A hundred and twenty receipts, not one name
On Saturday you rang up a hundred and twenty receipts. For about ten of them you know who was on the other side: the ones you greet by name, the ones who always order the same thing. For all the others you are left with just the receipt, and on Monday you have no way of giving them a reason to come back.
Inside RelAI, whoever signs up has a profile of their own. On the sign-up page they leave a name and a contact channel, the card lands on their phone, and from there every purchase adds loyalty points. There is no notebook of names on one side and a till on the other, so when you open a customer profile you see both how many times they have come in and how much they have spent.
The programme does not stop at the till. They gave you their date of birth when they signed up, so you set the birthday message once and it goes out on the right day; the points load onto the receipt you ring up; everything you know about them stays in their profile, next to the bookings and the appointments.
How much a euro is worth in points, how many you give on the first purchase, how many on their birthday. The points rules, the tier thresholds and the expiry are set just once.
They turn the screen towards you, you scan, the points land on their balance. All in the time it takes to ring up the receipt.
They have the balance in their pocket and they know the next threshold. They come back for that, not because you asked them to.
Sign up. Recognise. Reach.
You do not get to know a customer all at once. First they leave you a name, then you start recognising them when they come back, and in time you learn what they like too. The loyalty card holds every visit together, so when you write to them they are not a stranger any more.
The first step is having a name.
As long as they pay and walk out, a customer is a takings figure. From the moment they sign up they are a person with a name, a birthday and a history that is just beginning.
They show up at the till. The rest you already know.
Four things happen in the ten seconds it takes them to get their phone out. Nobody opens a notebook or stops to look up points, discounts and tier.
They open the card on their phone and turn it towards you. If they cannot find it, you look them up by name: the profile is the same one. Anyone who left their phone in the car is not left out of the programme.
You open RelAI on your phone or tablet and scan. The gesture is the same for every card and every customer. You do not have to teach whoever is behind the counter anything new.
The points from the purchase go into the balance together with the bonuses you set. The number on their card updates without them opening anything.
Whoever has reached Gold gets their 10% without asking. Nobody at the till has to remember it: the tier discount is already in the total.
As many steps as you want. The customer knows where they are.
Anyone who signs up is in. It is the starting point and it does not give a benefit yet: it is there to show that there is more above it.
5% on every bill and priority when they book.
10%, priority on bookings and reserved access to events.
How many tiers there are, what they are called, at what threshold they kick in and what they give is yours to decide. Above Gold you can add a fourth step, or you can stop sooner.
And tiers are only one of the ways to reward customers: alongside them there are points rewards, missions and the three forms of discount. The condition changes, but you are always the one deciding what has to happen when the customer reaches it.
| Type of reward | When it kicks in | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Tier | When they pass a points threshold | A fixed discount, as long as they stay there |
| Points reward | When they have collected enough points | A free item or a discount |
| Mission | When they complete the conditions you set | They see the progress towards the goal |
| Tiered discount | When they reach one of the thresholds | The more points they have, the higher the discount |
| Points clear-out | When you decide to close a season | The points left turn into a discount, up to the cap you chose |
| Coupon | When they use a code, or when you assign it to them | A percentage or an amount, with its own expiry |
An example of a tiered discount: 100 points are worth 5%, 250 are worth 10%, 500 are worth 20%.
If the programme works, you can see it
In the loyalty statistics you see the numbers month by month. You do not decide by feel whether the card is working: you compare one period with another.
For the ones who do not come back, you know when to get in touch.
The birthday and the coupon that expires in three days. They are two dates that do not come to mind, but they are already there: somebody recorded them for you.
A hundred points and a message
A reminder while it is still valid
Every coupon has its own expiry. You see in advance who has not used theirs yet, so you tell them when it matters and not the day after.
Fifteen tools. You put the programme together.
The reward changes. The card does not.
- Shops and retail Purchase points turn into a discount
- Restaurants and bars A free coffee with the tenth breakfast
- Beauty and wellness The package counts down each session
- Events and venues Cardholders pay less at the door

Questions about the loyalty card
How does the card get onto the phone?
With one tap, at the end of the sign-up. They scan the QR or open the link, fill the form in, confirm, and the last screen offers to save the card into the phone wallet. They do not have to install anything, and if they change phone they take it with them, along with the boarding passes and the train tickets.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes, with Apple Wallet and with Google Wallet. The customer finds the name of the programme, their balance and the code for you to scan.
What do I need at the till?
What you already have in your hand. The phone or the tablet you open RelAI on will do: you scan the code and the points are already on their balance. No reader to buy and no terminal to fit next to the till. You do not have to refit your counter to get started.
How does a customer sign up?
On their own, or with your staff registering them from the panel while they pay. There is one form, with the same required fields. The QR you put on the counter opens exactly the sign-up page you share on social media.
Can I use my own logo and colours?
Yes. Logo, colours and the title of the programme are yours, and the issuer shown on the card is your own business. You also decide which kind of card to issue: the one that collects points or the prepaid one, for the people who pay for a package of sessions up front.
Points, coins and gift cards: what is the difference?
Points are collected by spending and they unlock tiers and rewards: they are not bought, they are earned. Coins are a currency with an exchange rate you decide, a hundred for one euro of discount. They are redeemed from five hundred up, in multiples of a hundred. A gift card, on the other hand, is a bearer voucher: a value paid for in advance that goes down with every use and expires if it is not used. Three different things and a single wallet.
If I change the rules, what happens to the cards?
The cards already on your customers' phones are not rewritten. The points balance keeps updating, the rest stays as it was the day they added it. New thresholds and benefits apply from then on, and what you read on the card changes for whoever adds it from that day forward.
Do points expire?
You decide. By default they last a year from when they are credited, but in the points rules you can bring the expiry down to six months, set one of your own or remove it altogether. If you would rather close the season without cancelling anything there is the points clear-out, which turns what is left into a discount: every twenty-five points are worth one per cent, up to a cap you set.
Does it connect to the till I already have?
It depends on which one. There is an API and there are connections to tills, management software and online sales, but not every system hooks up the same way: before starting, we look at it together on a call.
